COVID Vaccine Update

 

We know everyone is anxious for more information on the COVID vaccine, and we want to share what we know.

 

PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE TO SCHEDULE TO SCHEDULE YOUR VACCINE

ALERT!  The Lowell General Hospital vaccine administration site is currently experiencing extremely high demand, and vaccine appointments are full at this time.  The site will be adding appointments as more vaccine supply becomes available.  Please do not call the vaccine site and do continue to check the website frequently at www.lowellgeneralvaccine.com for updates.

The Mass Department of Public Health announced the move into Phase II, Group II.  Phase II, Group II includes those individuals aged 65 or older, or those individuals with two or more of the follow co-morbid conditions as defined by the Mass DPH:

​

Cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Downs Syndrome, Congestive Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, Immunocompromised state due to previous organ transplant, Obesity with BMI>30, Pregnancy, Sickle Cell Disease, Smoking, Type II Diabetes, moderate or severe asthma.

If you meet the criteria for Phase I or Phase II-Groups I and II, you are currently eligible to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine.  This vaccine WILL NOT be given in our practice, but will be provided through a central vaccine administration site at 1001 Pawtucket Boulevard East in Lowell.  You must have an appointment to receive the vaccine at this location, no walk-in appointments will be permitted.  To schedule your vaccine please visit www.lowellgeneralvaccine.com

All New Hampshire residents should register and schedule their appointments at www.vaccines.nh.gov or dial 211

If you have questions about the vaccine, Massachusetts’s plan to distribute the vaccine, or the state’s response to COVID, please visit www.mass.gov/covid-19-vaccine. As we get more information from the hospital and the state, we will share it with you.

Our COVID Policy

 

With the recent concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus), we are here to keep you and your loved ones healthy.

We are open with new policies and using telemedicine to provide clinical health care to our patients who do not feel well so they do not have to leave their home to consult with one of our providers. If you are sick, please call our office and our providers will consult with you. We want to reassure you that we are strict about keeping our office clean and we are screening patients for illness that come to our office. If you are healthy, please know that you can come in for your scheduled appointment or urgent care needs.

At Global Care Medical Group, we will continue to closely monitor this outbreak and follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). You can find additional information on the U.S. Department of State and the CDC site, including COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions.

What is COVID-19 (Coronavirus)?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Coronavirus (CoV) is a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases.

A novel Coronavirus (CoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.


Tips to Support Your Health

Wash your hands!

The best way to prevent Coronavirus is to be mindful of washing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. Use antimicrobial wipes and sprays when necessary.


Remember the Basics of Immune Health

Sleep: make it a priority to get eight hours of sleep nightly. Sleep is essential for immune function.
Stress: make stress relief a priority (including limiting exposure to news). Use meditation breath work or other stress-relieving practices as needed.

Food: increased foods including non-starchy veggies, fruit, fish, whole grains, and sprouts. Avoid sugar and processed foods.

Hydration: aim to drink ½ of your body weight in ounces daily (up to 100oz.).
Move daily: 30 minutes of any type of movement daily to keep the lymph moving.

If you should have an emergency outside of our regular office hours or on the weekend, our staff can be reached by calling (978) 453-8261, and Global Care Medical Group physician will be paged and will promptly return your call.

In case of an emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
